Thesis Title: Atlantic salmon vaccine performance and production characteristics evaluated thorugh a multi-site controlled field trial.
Description of Project:
Supervisors: Drs. H. Stryhn & L. Hammell
Patti Jones, PhD Candidate
Atlantic Veterinary College, Prince Edward Island

Thesis Title: Assessing Treatment Response in Sea Lice Populations in Atlantic Canada.
Description of Project: This project will focus on all aspects of monitoring lice and treatment responses as the industry identifies new treatments. Although the industry cannot predict all treatment developments, the specific component projects will likely involve models to assess the development of chalimus to pre-adult lice in the absence and presence of treatments with varying degrees of effect on stages, treatment clinical trials that incorporate cage and site level variables, sea lice risk factor studies to identify husbandry and environmental variables that contribute to targeted surveillance methods, and modelling the bioassay responses during periods of use and non-use for various treatments.
Supervisor: Dr. L. Hammell & C. Revie

Thesis Title: Health and Productivity Monitoring in Cage Cultured Atlantic Halibut
Description of Project: Through the Center for Aquatic Health Sciences, Peter's project looks into the impact of oil adjuvenated vaccines and unique individual fish characteristics and how they effect the growth and survival of Atlantic halibut (Hippoglossus hippoglossus) during cage culture grow out. This project involves a population of 5000 individually passive integrated transponder tagged Atlantic halibut at a commercial farm in The Bay of Fundy, New Brunswick.
